How to Become a Rockin' L Cowgirl
So you are interested in becoming a Rockin' L Cowgirl? Well that's awesome! We are always open to bringing on new talent and would love to have you on the team! But before you join, you will need to know just what we expect of you as a team member because it's not all fun and games being a Cowgirl. We're rough, tough and we mean business when it comes to drill teaming. So be sure to read our rules and expectations should you decide to join us!

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
New Rockin' L Cowgirl members must be at least 14 years old, be an advanced rider, own your own horse or lease one of ours (if available), and be able to trailer your horse to and from practices and performances. If you do not meet these requirements, we have two other drill teams that may fit you a little better. Click here for more information on those teams.

TRYOUTS
You will either need to be involved in the intramurals program running from August to November to learn the routines and drills that the Cowgirls perform or try out one on one with our team captain and coach.

According to your age and skill level, you will be placed in either the Cowgirls Drill Team, the Cowgirl Cadets (Junior Drill Team ages 8-14) or our Crystal Cowgirls Drill Team (Ages 14- Still alive and kickin')! You will need to contact Susan at 693-4157 for more information about try outs and availability.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU IF YOU JOIN THE COWGIRLS

Rule #1 - COMMITMENT

Just like any other sport, we require that you be at practices. But unlike other sports, our team members are very limited. We don't have the membership to be able to sit 10 people on the bench while the others perform. Drill Team usually consists of 6 to 10 members and the routines are usually written for the same number of members that we have. These routines are tough and you have to be commited to practicing with the team! And since our venues are usually paid, it is
crucial that you make EVERY practice and EVERY performance unless otherwise arranged with the head coach. We highly discourage being involved in other extra curricular activites when a member of the Rockin' L Cowgirls due to the high demand we place on our members attendance and for the reason that other sports and cirriculars will eventually conflict with our schedule. When we rely on every member being there, just one person missing causes a lot of heartache on the group practice. If you can manage other extracirriculars with drill team we have no problem with that, but when it comes down to it, drill team has to be your top priority or you will be let go from the team. It is nothing personal, but we want to make it clear that you cannot miss practices or performances for another cirricular activity. So if you play an instrument or are involved in a sport that means more to you than drill, then you should not join this drill team.

RULE #2 - REFER TO RULE #1
Yes. Commitment is our number one rule. We do have other rules such as behavior and other things, but our biggest most important rule is that you are COMMITED!!! So please think this through before you join us. If you start to skip out on practices for something else, that burdens us with the task of cutting you from the team, so make sure that you make an educated decision.
