About Dale and Susan
The Rocking L Ranch has been a dream come true for both of us. We both love animals and wildlife, so this is paradise for us.
My dad owned a cattle ranch in Arcadia when I was young and I grew up around horses my whole life. My dad is my inspirartion for building the ranch and making it what it is today. Unfortunately he is no longer with us on this earth, but I know that he is in heaven watching over us to make sure everything is taken care of.
The Rocking L Ranch started as just a simple riding school that taught children the basics of horsemanship and riding, but in the years we've been established it has grown into so much more. We now have the Ranch Rider's Club, awesome drill teams, and some very avid and passionate equestrians!
Most of the kids that started with us have stayed and grown with us. It has been such a great experience to watch these children improve and gain confidence to become excellent horsemen and horsewomen. We have awesome people out here at the ranch that have become like a second family to us. We couldn't ask for anything more!
I look foward to watching all of the new kids grow and become confident riders. Most have already displayed their abilities to ride and can only go up from here. God has blessed us and The Rocking L Ranch, and we pray that we will continue to prosper throughout the tough economic times that have plagued this nation. If you would like to join one of our programs, please feel free to contact us for more information.
The Rocking L Ranch Staff
Ashley Lay (and Cowboy)
Ashley Lay
is Susan's
daughter and
Dale's step
daughter.
She was
cursed
with "The
Horse Gene"
that has
been passed
down from
generation to generation. Incase you don't know about this curse, it causes you to be involved with horses 24/7 and to spend a lot of money to maintain your horse habit! It is very serious.
Ashley now runs the ranch full time and manages the day to day opertations of the ranch while Susan and Dale pursue putting on rodeos locally and hopefully state wide. Ashley graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Business Administration in May of 2009. Ashley has been riding horses since she was 8 years old and has developed a passion for teaching children along side Susan.
"Running my own business is something that I have always wanted to do, but being able to do something I love and have a passion for makes this venture in my life so rewarding. I love working with the kids and horses and wouldn't want it any other way."
Ria Mooney (and Sonny)

Ria Mooney has been working at The Rocking L Ranch for a little over three years now. She unfortunately contracted "The Horse Gene" from unknown sources because no one in her family had horses.
Ria owns three horses at the ranch; Sonny, Duncan and Danny. Sonny was the horse that she learned to ride on with lessons from Susan when she first came to The Rocking L. She fell in love with him and eventually bought him from Susan. Duncan was acquired from Canada. She rescued him from becoming horse hamburger at the mill. After owning Sonny and Duncan for a year, she bought Danny from Susan and Dale. Susan and Dale were going to retire Danny to the pasture and try to find him a good home because he is around 35 years old. Ria had a bleeding heart for the old man and he now resides at The Rocking L Ranch under her tender loving care.
Ria feeds and cares for the horses and also assists Ashley in the riding school Ranch Rider's Club as an instructor. Ria is also a student at Rollin's College in Orlando majoring in economics. She plans to go on to law school when she finishes her bachelor degree and specialize in equine law.
